Asbestos roof inspection carried out safely using drone technology and data analysed in the cloud
We were engaged by a building consultancy company to carry out a conditional survey of an asbestos roof. The information was required for a schedule of conditions.
The drone inspection was carried out with social distancing in place and the building surveyor was able to analyse the HD images from their own office using our cloud based platform. The cloud based platform is used for storing, sharing, managing and analysing the data. Annotations can be included if issues or defects are identified, they can also be given a severity level. All of this can be done remotely with multiple people within the same company given access to the data. A PDF and/or Excel report based on all the defects/issues that were identified can be produced. This information can be shared with contractors for pricing repairs or maintenance.
Our special license from the CAA, an OSC (Operational Safety Case) allowed us to carry out the complex drone operation in a heavily congested area close to roads and residential houses.
Managing asset inspection data digitally has many benefits:
1. Analysis can be carried out remotely in the office
2. Improves team collaboration and workflow on projects
3. A digital record of an inspection in time
4. Gives the ability to compare inspection data over multiple time periods
5. Data can be digitally shared with contractors for pricing of works
6. Communicate with the client on works to be carried out
This type of survey couldn’t be done safely using a cherry picker.
We can assist building/asset surveyors with their pre-acquisition surveys, due diligence surveys, planned maintenance programs, dilapidation surveys or schedule of conditions using drone technology.
We can carry out thermal surveys for leak detection, heat loss or solar panel defects.
