3D point cloud survey and roof inspection of an asset/building using drone technology

We completed a point cloud survey and roof inspection of an asset/building. The 2D/3D digital data was used by the project architects and engineers for planning and design purpose while the data was used to create both CAD and REVIT models. HD images were also captured to understand the condition of the roof in great detail.

Access to the roof area was really difficult using traditional methods and using drones to carry out the survey and inspection reduced the risk of people working at height.

Our cloud based platform was used for storing, sharing, managing and analysing the data. Annotations can be included if issues or defects are identified, they can also be given a severity level. A report (PDF/Excel) can be produce from this and shared with contractors for pricing. All of the 2D/3D data was tied to the OSGB 1936 (OSTN15) grid.

We safely completed the survey using our CAA Operational Safety Case (OSC) and we were one day onsite.
